Gal Shemer is a U.S. tax partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP.
Gal advises clients on tax aspects of a wide range of matters, including private investment fund formations, cross-border corporate and private equity M&As and joint ventures, debt and equity offerings, and acquisition finance transactions. At the NYU School of Law, where he earned his LL.M. in taxation, Gal won the Harry J. Rudick Memorial Award for “demonstrated excellence in taxation throughout” the program.

Since joining Kirkland, Gal has been involved in the following matters:
Oakley Capital on the financing for the investments in Phenna Group and CTS Group in transactions valued at over £1 billion.
Prior to joining Kirkland, Gal was involved in the following matters:
Apax in raising its buyout, digital and impact funds and in certain of its underlying investments.
Blackstone in a wide variety of European and Asian real estate transactions.
Bridgepoint on its initial public offering.
Coller in raising its first credit secondary fund.
CVC is a wide variety of European and Asian transactions and co-invest arrangements.
EQT in raising its flagship buyout funds and its infrastructure funds.
KKR in a wide variety of European transactions, including the carve-out of Wella from Coty Inc. and the acquisition of Viridor Ltd.
