N. Yvonne Beeler
Overview
Yvonne Beeler is an intellectual property litigation partner with notable success representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex, high stakes matters. Yvonne was part of a trial team that secured a $765 million jury verdict on behalf of Motorola Solutions in a trade secret and copyright infringement case against an overseas competitor, Hytera. She has continued to represent Motorola in several post-trial contempt proceedings, securing over $180 million for Motorola. Yvonne has successfully defended complex multipatent and copyright cases filed by aggressive assertion entities in key venues, such as the Eastern District of Texas and District of Delaware. Yvonne has also litigated constitutional rights, habitability, discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims.
Yvonne’s work has covered a wide range of complex technologies, including semiconductor fabrication techniques & microprocessor technology, digital two-way communications and standards, laser printing, touchscreen technology, pharmaceuticals and automotive safety technology. Several of Yvonne’s cases involve overseas corporations based in Asia and Europe. She also has experience in International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 proceedings and Hatch-Waxman (ANDA) litigation.
In law school, Yvonne was an extern for the Patent Pilot Program in the Central District of California. Under the program, district judges volunteer and are designated by the Chief Judge of the district to receive patent cases.
Before law school, Yvonne served as a Captain in the United States Army and received the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge for her combat service in Afghanistan.

Representative Matters
Since joining Kirkland, Yvonne has been involved in the following matters:
- Counsel for Omnitracs (former Qualcomm division) in two multipatent trials against competitors concerning fleet management and safety technology.
- Counsel for Motorola Solutions in several post-trial contempt and collection proceedings; member of trial team that won jury verdict of $764.6 million in compensatory and punitive damages in trade secret and copyright infringement case against a Chinese-based competitor.
- Counsel for Red Hat in multipatent suit related to multipath TCP (MPTCP) and multilink point-to-point protocol (MLP).
- Counsel for clients alleging violations of constitutional rights, habitability, discrimination, harassment and retaliation against California municipalities and contractors.
- Represented IBM and Red Hat in multipatent suit related to containerization.
- Represented Intel in patent suit filed by a Swiss patent licensing company involving 12 CPU-chip patents; secured a complete defense win by invalidating patents and winning summary judgment of no infringement.
- Represented Astronics in patent infringement, copyright infringement and California state law claims case brought by Teradyne concerning aerospace test instruments; secured a complete defense win by invalidating the patent and winning summary judgment of fair use.
- Represented computer and tablet device manufacturers in ITC Section 337 Investigation relating to use of Intel chips.
- Represented Intel in nine-patent suit filed by a Tokyo-based IP fund involving semiconductor technology. Won a motion to transfer from the Eastern District of Texas to the Northern District of California, leading to favorable settlement.
Prior to joining Kirkland, Yvonne was involved in the following matters:
- ITC Section 337 proceeding for top imaging solutions corporation involving laser printing cartridges.
- Patent litigation for large electronics company involving several digital standards and touchscreen patents.
- Trial team member for ANDA litigation involving popular brand name mucus-loosening medicine.
- Patent litigation for international pharmaceutical formulation and device development company involving prescription inhaler products.
