Bill Benitez is a partner in the Houston office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice concentrates on complex business transactions in the energy industry, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, executive compensation and equity incentive arrangements, and related general corporate counseling. Bill has worked on transactions in a variety of energy industry segments, including upstream, transportation and midstream, coal and other mining, chemicals and industrials, energy and industrial services, engineering and construction, renewables and clean energy and power generation. Bill is recognized in the 2017–2019 editions of The Legal 500 U.S. — Energy Transactions: Oil and Gas as a Next Generation Lawyer.

Bill also devotes substantial time to immigration-related pro bono matters involving victims of domestic violence and actively participates in diversity and recruiting efforts as a member of the Firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Bill received a J.D., cum laude, from the Northwestern University School of Law, an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management and an undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Louisiana State University.

Prior to Northwestern University’s JD-MBA program, Bill was a manager in the North America consulting practice of Accenture in Houston. During his tenure with Accenture, Bill led consulting teams on behalf of various clients in connection with new system and process implementation, as well as post-merger integration.
