Overview

Christine “Chris” Camara is a litigation associate in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.

Prior to clerking, Chris dedicated her early career to developing a practice in the white-collar criminal defense, securities and complex litigation areas. Her time was evenly split between government investigations and mass tort litigation. She has assisted in representing clients in six federal circuits and 10 state jurisdictions. Chris’ experience has also allowed her to try high-profile criminal cases in federal court and provided exposure to motions practice at different stages of litigation. She has committed upwards of 200 pro bono hours annually to advocating for historically underrepresented and marginalized groups. These cases ranged from protecting the religious rights of inmates, challenges to segregative public school policies, to complex immigration disputes.

While in law school, Chris was a consultant for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. She consulted heads of office on communication and reporting improvement efforts to senior department officials, White House briefings and congressional review panels. She was responsible for monitoring domestic and international media coverage for Customs and Border Patrol leadership on trade and travel and border protection practices; analyzing data to provide recommendations for improving use-of-force misconduct and discipline protocol; and tracking anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation and trial proceedings, Section 337 penalty enforcement, and duty recovery and loss of revenue impact. She prepared briefings and presentations for the commissioner and under secretary and coordinated with their offices to rollout new policies and procedures.
