Since joining Kirkland, James has advised:

• An investor consortium comprised of AI Infrastructure Partnership, MGX and BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners in its $40 billion acquisition of Aligned Data Centers, a provider of data center solutions, from Macquarie Asset Management;
• CF Industries, together with JV partners JERA and Mitsui on the development, procurement and construction of the $4 billion world’s largest blue ammonia plant in Blue Point Lousiana; and
• Apollo Funds in its acquisition of a 50% stake in a portfolio of approximately 2 GW of solar and BESS assets in Texas from TotalEnergies, consisting of three solar projects with a total capacity of 1.7 GW and two battery storage projects with a combined capacity of 300 MW.

Prior to joining Kirkland, James was lead advisor to:

• NEOM, the PIF-backed Saudi Gigaproject developer, on all aspects of the procurement and construction of urban, transport, power and industrial infrastructure for the development of the futuristic new city in Saudi Arabia's north-western region, including the preparation and negotiation of contracts required for:
  • the LINE, NEOM’s $500 billion flagship linear city;
  • the Spine, NEOM’s $55 billion rail transportation and logistics infrastructure network;
  • ENOWA, NEOM’s renewable energy platform;
  • Oxagon, NEOM’s port and industrial city; and
  • Trojena, NEOM’s winter tourism destination city.
• MASDAR and EDF on the $3 billion multiplant integrated utility system PPP Project, including Solar PV, BESS, and wastewater desalination plants and network system, as a part of the AMAALA Gigaproject in Saudi Arabia;
• Macquarie GIG, JERA and Swancor on the development and financing of the Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Project, Taiwan (2020 Asian Infrastructure Renewable Energy Deal of the Year);
• Macquarie GIG, Orsted, JERA and Swancor on the development and financing of the Formosa I Offshore Wind Project, Taiwan (2019 Asian Infrastructure Green Deal of the Year);
• EverWind on the delivery of a $6 billion multiphase green hydrogen project in Nova Scotia, Canada;
• The Victorian Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources on the delivery of:
  • the $12 billion Metro Tunnel Rail Infrastructure Project; and
  • the $5 billion Regional Rail Link project;
• Kai Tak Sports Park Ltd on the delivery of the $4 billion Kai Tak Sports Park national stadium complex in Hong Kong;
• ROSHN on the development of template forms of Design and Construction and EPC Contracts for the development of the Real Estate-driven Gigaproject in Saudi Arabia; and
• Saudi Fransi Capital on the design, construction, operation and maintenance agreements for a $500 million hyperscale data centre platform in Saudi Arabia.
