Paul Cotler is a litigation associate in the Philadelphia office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Paul’s practice focuses primarily on complex mass litigation, including national personal injury mass torts, consumer and business class actions and mass arbitrations. He has represented clients in the healthcare, private equity, tech and food/agriculture industries on matters dealing with product liability, consumer protection laws, antitrust, False Claims Act liability, bankruptcy and insurance in state and federal courts around the country. Before coming to Kirkland, Paul served as a law clerk for Judge Michael M. Baylson of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Paul’s work advising clients in complex civil litigation spans from pre-suit to post-verdict and involves developing pre-suit strategies, briefing dispositive motions, engaging in document and expert discovery and guiding clients through the pre-trial and trial phases of a case. Paul’s extensive trial experience includes membership on several bet-the-company trial teams at both Kirkland and his prior firm, as well as his involvement in several trials as a law clerk to a federal district court judge. Paul also maintains a robust pro bono practice, devoting a significant portion of his time to advising immigrants, veterans, individuals in custody and others facing immense, life-changing legal challenges.
