Represents General Motors in litigation against competitor, former executives, and former union officials arising from a scheme to corrupt labor negotiations, which has resulted in more than a dozen criminal convictions.

Represents Woodstream Corporation in multiple class action lawsuits against allegations of false advertising of Woodstream’s ultrasonic rodent repeller.

Represents Haleon US Holdings LLC in class action litigation in district court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit against allegations of false advertising of Haleon’s Parodontax Active Gum Repair toothpastes.

Represents Pindrop Security, Inc. in class action litigation on appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit against purported violations of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy.

Represents broker-dealer in class action litigation involving cash sweep programs.

Represents an individual involved in medical device manufacturing in litigation against allegations of fraud and improper use of commission proceeds.

Represents beverage distributor in putative class action litigation (and multiple arbitrations) against allegations of price discrimination in violation of federal antitrust laws.

Represented Careismatic Brands, LLC and its affiliates in their Chapter 11 cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

Represented Liberated Brands LLC and certain of its subsidiaries in their Chapter 11 cases in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Since joining Kirkland, Jake has been involved in the following pro bono matters:

• Represented parents of students in a state class action challenging the Los Angeles Unified School District’s distance learning policies during COVID-19 pandemic school closures, resulting in a landmark legal settlement that provides the most sweeping set of prospective remedial reforms to advance student learning in the U.S.
• Represented Temple of the Arts in litigation challenging the City of Beverly Hills’ and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s actions in constructing the LA Metro Purple Line Extension Project, resulting in a settlement between the parties.
• Represented grandparents in adoption of grandchildren.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Jake was involved in the following pro bono matters:

• Represented in briefing and oral argument an individual on appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit regarding his application for asylum, withholding of removal, and relief under the Convention Against Torture, resulting in remand to the Board of Immigration Appeals to properly consider the individual’s fear of future persecution based on his status as a deserter and the aggregate risk of torture arising from all sources.
