Since joining Kirkland: 

• Representation of Ariel Alternatives in its $1.45 billion closing of the “Project Black” fund, the first private equity initiative of Ariel Investments, that seeks to invest in middle-market companies that may not currently be minority-owned, as well as existing Black- or Latino/a-owned businesses

• Representation of the formation of Clearlake Capital Partners VII (Fund VII), a $14+ billion buyout fund 

• Representation of banks, thrifts and bank holding companies in connection with significant compliance matters, regulatory applications, and enforcement actions

• Representation of bank and thrift holding companies in connection with the sponsorship of private funds offered to clients, including compliance with the Volcker Rule

• Representations of bank and thrift holding companies in connection with proprietary investments in private funds managed by third party sponsors, and related co-investment vehicles and portfolio companies, including compliance with the Volcker Rule

• Representation of private fund sponsors in connection with bank holding company investments in private funds, and related co-investment vehicles and portfolio companies, including the accommodation of issues related to the Volcker Rule

• Representation of private equity funds in connection with investments in financial services businesses, including bank holding companies and payment processing companies

• Representation of borrowers and lenders in connection with credit facilities extended to bank holding companies

• Representation of a banks and bank holding companies in connections with mergers, branch closings, and other significant asset or equity acquisition and disposition transactions

• Representation of creditors and bidders in connection with 363 sales transaction including banks and thrifts

As an Associate General Counsel at a full-service, multi-national financial institution:

• Responsible for all legal, regulatory, litigation and conflict matters generated by the proprietary private equity and strategic investing businesses, including day-to day matters and enterprise-wide initiatives involving business units engaged in the full breadth of the financial services industry

• Advised senior management with respect to all aspects of the business, and provided advice in numerous regulatory disciplines, including with respect to SBICs, insurance companies, media investments and SEC matters

• Represented the institution in connection with the spin-out of more than $5 billion in private equity funds to a permanent capital vehicle listed on Euronext, and in connection with several equity investments in going private transactions ranging from $3.8 billion to $39 billion
