Overview

Thomas Laughlin is a founding partner of Kirkland’s Dallas office. He represents private equity firms, family offices, other investment firms and publicly-traded and privately-held companies in mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, de-SPAC transactions, joint ventures, restructurings and financings.

Thomas works closely with middle-market sponsors such as Trinity Hunt Partners, Braemont Capital and Maple Park Capital, and regularly advises family offices on direct investments. He has also represented many of the industry’s leading firms, including Allied Industrial Partners, Apollo, Ares, Blackstone, Blue Owl, Chambers Energy Capital, Clearlake Capital Group, CPPIB, Cresta, GRP Energy Capital, HBK Capital Management, HGGC, Maverick Ventures, Oaktree, Pine Brook Partners, Quantum, RedBird Capital Partners, Riverstone Holdings, Tailwater, TPG Capital, Trive Capital, Vortus Investments and Warwick Capital Partners.

His practice spans a wide range of industries, with particular experience in technology and business services, consumer, healthcare, manufacturing, aviation and logistics, as well as energy and infrastructure.

Thomas is also active in civic and philanthropic organizations, including the Salesmanship Club of Dallas.
