Overview

Samuel Leifer is a litigation partner in the Boston office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Samuel has a diverse practice representing clients in a variety of litigation matters. His practice focuses on complex, commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, patent litigation, class action lawsuits and business torts. He has also represented clients in government-facing matters under the False Claims Act, Federal Trade Commission Act and Communications Decency Act. He has represented corporations, boards, directors and officers, and individuals, both as defendants and plaintiffs.

Samuel has experience at all levels of litigation, from drafting complaints, to running fact and expert discovery, to participating in multiple trials, to appeals in both State and federal appellate courts, to petitions in the United States Supreme Court. He has taken and defended numerous depositions, including CEOs of multibillion-dollar companies, electrical engineers, tax professionals and individual class action plaintiffs. He has argued and successfully won motions in federal and state courts, and participated in both jury and bench trials, securing successful verdicts for his clients. Samuel also has experience in the alternative dispute resolution setting, including successful arbitrations, mediations and settlement discussions.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Samuel was an attorney at another international law firm and clerked for the Honorable A. Raymond Randolph of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. While pursuing his legal education, Samuel worked as a student attorney in the Michigan Law School Child Advocacy Law Clinic. Prior to law school, he served as an AmeriCorps program coordinator for a nonprofit in San Angelo, Texas, dedicated to repairing homes of military veterans, seniors and those with disabilities. Samuel also worked as legislative correspondent for US Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.
