Mike Marek is a corporate partner in the Houston office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Mike advises private equity firms, other financial sponsors, portfolio companies and a variety of public and private businesses in connection with a wide range of strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts and joint ventures. Mike’s work spans a variety of industries, with a particular focus on the energy, services and infrastructure sectors, including traditional hydrocarbon and energy transition segments.

Blackstone Energy Transition Partners in its acquisition of Alliance Technical Group, a provider of environmental testing, monitoring and compliance services
Rockcliff Energy III LLC in its acquisition of Pine Wave Energy Partners LLC’s East Texas assets located in San Augustine and Shelby Counties, Texas
Stone Ridge Energy in its pending $1.3 billion acquisition of a portfolio of Oklahoma energy assets from ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP)
Bernhard Capital Partners in the sale of its stake in Brown & Root Industrial Services, a provider of non-discretionary, specialty industrial services
Prior to joining Kirkland, Mike was involved in the following matters:

Blackstone in its acquisition of Sabre Industries from The Jordan Company

The Sinclair Companies in the combination of Sinclair Oil’s refining, renewable diesel and logistics assets with those of HollyFrontier Corporation and Holly Energy Partners, L.P.
FloWorks International LLC in connection with Clearlake Capital Group, L.P.’s sale of a majority interest in FloWorks to Wynnchurch Capital, L.P.
Gravity Oilfield Services Inc. in the sale of its Gravity Water Midstream division to Delek Logistics Partners, LP
SCF Partners, Inc. in connection with the acquisition of the Newpark Fluids Systems business of Newpark Resources, Inc.
Variperm Holdings Ltd. in its sale to Forum Energy Technologies, Inc.
