Overview

Kevin Wang is a trial lawyer and partner in the Los Angeles office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP with a focus on intellectual property litigation, specifically patent and trade secret disputes. In addition to his trial practice, Kevin also advises clients on intellectual property strategy. Kevin has counseled clients on a wide range of technology, including computer networking, semiconductors, microprocessors, cybersecurity, water desalination, and interactive fitness equipment.

Since joining Kirkland, Kevin has been involved in matters including:

  • (D. Del.) Representing a semiconductor company in a patent infringement litigation concerning microprocessor architectures.
  • (D. Del.) Representing a social media company and its subsidiary in a multi-patent dispute concerning video coding technology.
  • (N.D. Cal.) Defended a social media company and its subsidiary against serial claims of infringement by a public patent assertion entity, settling favorably after institution of IPRs.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Kevin was involved in matters including:

  • (N.D. Cal.) Defended a networking technology company against claims of infringement of computer security patents. The Daily Journal recognized the case team with a Top Defense Verdict of 2018 after a jury trial led to a finding of no infringement.
  • (E.D. Tex.) Represented a semiconductor company claiming infringement of various patents on minimizing contact resistance in transistors.
  • (D. Del.) Represented an interactive fitness company in competitor suits for patent infringement, trademark violations, and false advertising.
  • (Arbitration) Defended a national university's technology licensing arm in a patent license dispute over water desalination technology.
  • (Cal. Super. Ct.) Defended a major utility against coordinated mass tort litigation arising out of California wildfires.
