Eric Zhi is an associate in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He has represented clients in a broad range of domestic and international transactions including mergers and acquisitions, SPAC transactions, single- and multi-asset continuation vehicle transactions, commercial real estate transactions, and a variety of corporate matters. The private equity firms and asset managers that Eric has represented include Blackstone, Thoma Bravo, Bain Capital, Linden Capital Partners, Vista Equity Partners, Madison Dearborn Partners, Link Industrial Properties, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., TPG Real Estate, Strategic Office Partners as well as REITs and other institutional investors.
Eric is the co-founder and co-chair for Lawyers Helping Our Community, a special legal clinic under Chicago Volunteer Legal Services that addresses the unique legal challenges faced by small business owners and individuals in Asian American communities. Eric received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago Law School, and is a CFA (2020–2021), CAIA, and FRM charterholder. Eric is also an Adjunct Professor at DePaul University where he teaches Private Equity and Entrepreneurial Transactions.
