Protecting the Right to Vote on Election Day

We are proud to partner with the Lawyers’ Committee once again and to have so many of our lawyers answer the call to assist on this critical effort.

Since 2002, Kirkland has participated in the Election Protection program, a nonpartisan coalition that is administered by the Voting Rights Project of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Kirkland hosted call centers on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in Chicago, San Francisco and New York. Attorney volunteers answered voters’ questions and helped address legal issues that arose at polling places in various states.

Across the U.S., Kirkland attorneys also worked in the field on Election Day, resolving legal questions regarding voter eligibility and helping eligible voters gain access to the polls at voting sites. In addition, in D.C., our lawyers volunteered at the national call center in the weeks leading up to the election and continued to do so through Election Day.

In total, more than 275 Kirkland attorneys volunteered at Election Protection call centers and in the field program across the U.S.

“Hundreds of Kirkland lawyers volunteered at voting sites and call centers throughout the country on Election Day to answer legal questions and help protect people’s right to vote,” said Jeffrey Hammes, Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee. “We are proud to partner with the Lawyers’ Committee once again and to have so many of our lawyers answer the call to assist on this critical effort.”
