Chambers' comments:

New York Ranking: 3

The Firm: The firm's New York practice has yet to match the top slot position the firm holds for buyouts in Chicago, where Jack Levin is on par with Dick Beattie for "national icon status in LBOs."  The firm is known for its representation of buyout groups ranging from Bain Capital to Summit Partners.  The firm is another example of U.S. firms being able to export their buyout expertise.

The Lawyers: Although the office can draw on up to 50 lawyers for buy-outs, only Kirk Radke is well known for his buyouts work.  "Razor sharp," he counts Vestar Capital as one of his New York clients.

The Clients: First Chicago, Bank of America, Thomas Weisel, Key Equity, Madison Dearborn, Thomas H. Lee, Citicorp, GTCR, Bain Capital, Centennial Funds, CVC Capital.
