Patent Litigation Survey - Swords & Shields

In IP Law & Business' (formerly IP Worldwide) third annual survey of patent litigation powerhouses, Kirkland ranked first in the "Top of the Heap" category for the firm that litigated the most cases in 2002.  The survey, which ranks firms by the number of patent cases they brought and defended in 2002, used CourtLink to collect docket information and then asked firms to supplement the data.  Kirkland is ranked first on the "Swords" list (plaintiff firms) with 23 cases and third on the "Shields" (defense firms) list with 26 cases, for an impressive overall total of 49 cases.  Kirkland is one of four firms mentioned on both the Swords list and the Shields list.  Of those four firms, Kirkland is the only one that is ranked in the top three for both categories.
