Chambers' comments:
National Ranking: 4
The Firm: Market sources particularly note this practice for its customer-side work, although it also represents service providers. It built a historical presence in "some of the earliest outsourcing transactions," say observers, and continues to handle major work. Recent examples include advising a large financial institution on various outsourcing agreements relating to call centers, HR and finance and accountancy. It has also been acting for a Canadian-based manufacturer of technology equipment in relation to an agreement with a Swedish company concerning the outsourcing of a range of services critical to the business, including manufacturing and accounting.
The Lawyers: Gregg Kirchhoefer heads the firm's IP/technology transactions practice group in Chicago. A "knowledgeable" technology lawyer, his practice encompasses the outsourcing of business processes, IT, applications processing and application service providers.
The Clients: The team acts for service providers and customers in manufacturing, financial services and other business sectors seeking to outsource critical functions. It has recently been advising a service provider on an outsourcing deal with a large financial services institution.
