Chambers' comments:

National Ranking:  4

The Firm: The international arbitration practice received praise for a number of consistently brilliant performances. Highlights included successfully representing GM in an ICC proceeding where Inversora sought substantial damages for alleged fraud and breach of fiduciary duty relating to a Venezuelan joint venture. The team also represented SC Johnson in ICC arbitration arising out of a post-closing dispute concerning the purchase of a worldwide business. Attorneys from Chicago, where the firm is already outright leader in commercial litigation, are most heavily involved in the field. Members of the practice are also on hand in New York, Los Angeles and London. In addition to ICC matters the workload also commonly includes LCIA, AAA, UNCITRAL and ad hoc proceedings.

The Lawyers: Partner James Schink is a senior trial counsel in Chicago spending a considerable portion of his time on international arbitration.
