Safe Haven Pro Bono Award

Kirkland received the Safe Haven Pro Bono Award from Immigration Equality at the Safe Haven Awards in New York. The award recognizes a law firm that has gone above and beyond to win refuge for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV-positive asylum seekers. Kirkland was one of five firms selected for the award out of 40 law firms that participate in Immigration Equality's Pro Bono Asylum Program. Together, these 40 firms donated more than $14 million in legal services to Immigration Equality clients — winning 76 asylum cases in 2009, a 99 percent success rate.
