U.S. Bank M&A Under a Cloud After Share Price Falls

Kirkland partner Edwin del Hierro is quoted regarding shareholder disapproval over dealmaking in the banking sector.

"...Edwin del Hierro, partner at Kirkland & Ellis who advises bank boards on M&A, said there were plenty of drivers for more M&A in the sector.

Still, he added: 'The parties involved need to be able to communicate sound rationale for the valuation. If it appears as though the buyer is stretching, the market might punish their stock. Investors are not always sold on the pricing. You need to have nearly perfect execution for some of these deals to work.'”
