Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout-Outs

Nader Boulos and Ben Kurtz were recognized as runners-up for The American Lawyer Litigation Daily's "Litigator of the Week" for their work for Dow Chemical.

"... Litigators at Kirkland & Ellis combined with Canadian colleagues at Bennett Jones and Blakes, Cassels & Graydon to help client Dow Chemical collect a big judgment in a long-running dispute with NOVA Chemicals over an ethylene plant owned by the two companies and operated by NOVA. NOVA paid 1.6 billion Canadian dollars (about $1.2 billion) to two Dow subsidiaries this week after the Alberta Court of Appeal last month refused to stay the latest judgment in the two-decade-long dispute. Dow’s total recovery in the litigation now sits at CA$3.56 billion (about $2.6 billion) along with fees and costs of CA$140 million (about $100 million). The team representing Dow was led by Nader Boulos and Ben Kurtz of Kirkland, Blair Yorke-Slader KC and E. Bruce Mellett KC of Bennett Jones, Randall Hofley and Kevin MacDonald of Blakes and Dow in-house lawyers Michael Glackin and Marissa Yu."
