Kirkland & Ellis Named Private Equity International Law Firm of the Year

Kirkland & Ellis was named the "Private Equity International Law Firm of the Year" tonight in London by Chambers and Partners, the international legal publisher and research company.

Citing the firm’s "astronomical reputation" in its global private equity practice, Chambers presented the award at London’s Savoy Hotel dinner attended by some 400 guests from law firms, business, and the publishing field.

Kirkland & Ellis was also a Chambers finalist in the insolvency and restructuring area.

"We are greatly honored by this award," said Stuart L. Mills, a senior partner in the Firm’s corporate/transactional practice in London. "We consider it a tribute not only to us, but to our many clients in the private equity area, who are themselves very internationally minded. We are very grateful to them for their trust and support."

"It’s also important to recognize that a great corporate practice is not built on transactional lawyers alone," Mills continued. "Our clients’ deals are accomplished with a great complement of practitioners in other areas of law that make the transactions possible. The Kirkland lawyers who concentrate in tax law, intellectual property, environmental, insolvency, real estate, and employee benefits bring unique skills to the table, and the depth of their knowledge is indispensable to our clients."

Kevin R. Evanich, a leader of the Firm’s international corporate group, added, "It is gratifying to us that our service to our clients over these past 25 years has been recognized in this fashion."

London partners David Patrick Eich and Matthew H. Hurlock accepted the award for the Firm, and Lyndon Norley, leader of the Firm’s London insolvency practice, also attended.

The awards are based on research undertaken for Chambers Global, which contacts lawyers and business people across Europe for its award process.

Chambers Publishing, a UK-based publishing concern publishes several legal reference guides, including Chambers Global: the World's Leading Lawyers, Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession, Chambers Student Guide to the Legal Profession and is currently preparing a Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession in the U.S.
