Kirkland & Ellis Partner Russell E. Levine Elected President of Licensing Executives Society (USA & Canada)
With more than 4,500 members and 30 local chapters throughout the United States and Canada, LES is a professional society engaged in the transfer, use, development and marketing of intellectual property. It is the largest of the 32 National Societies within the Licensing Executive Society International, which has a membership base of over 10,000 licensing executives from over 90 countries.
As president, Mr. Levine intends to focus on growing membership by leveraging innovative branding and marketing strategies and social media outreach to highlight the value of LES membership to a broad spectrum of licensing professionals across industries.
Mr. Levine focuses his trial, appellate and alternative dispute resolution practice on patent infringement matters and disputes involving technology transfer and patent license agreements. His practice includes structuring and negotiating both licensing-in and licensing-out transactions.
He has been an LES member since 1992 and active throughout as a volunteer on various committees, in leadership roles, and as a content provider at annual, seasonal and local chapter meetings. In addition to his most recent role as president-elect, he also is an International Delegate to, and chair of, the Long-Range Planning Committee for, LES International (LESI). He has previously served as an LES Trustee, as Co-Chair of the Litigation Committee (1994-1998), as co-chair of the Laws & Government Action Committee for several years, a member of the 2005 Annual Meeting Committee, Program Co-Chair for the 2009 Spring Meeting, and as Meeting Chair for the 2011 Spring Meeting. Mr. Levine has been an instructor for several LES educational courses and he is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP™).
