Kirkland Counsels Blackstone Portfolio Company, CHPE, on Financing of 339-Mile Clean Power Transmission Line from Québec to NYC

Kirkland & Ellis advised Blackstone Energy Partners III L.P. and Blackstone Capital Partners VIII L.P., and their portfolio companies Transmission Developers, Inc., TDI-USA Holdings LLC and CHPE LLC, in connection with the development and construction financing of the Champlain Hudson Power Express, an approximately 339-mile fully-buried transmission line that will deliver approximately 1,250 MW of clean and renewable hydropower from Québec to New York City. The overall project cost is approximately $6 billion. The lead financial advisor on the deal was Societe Generale supported by Coordinating Lead Arrangers Societe Generale, MUFG, Mizuho and CIBC. The financing required to begin construction on the project closed on November 1, 2022. Kirkland has counseled Blackstone for over five years in connection with the development of the project.
