Kirkland Advises on £280 Million UK Data Centre CMBS
Kirkland & Ellis advised on a £280 million commercial mortgage-backed securitisation (CMBS) secured by two UK data centre assets operated by Equinix, Inc, one of the world’s leading digital infrastructure companies.
The transaction represents only the second CMBS backed by data centre assets to be executed in the European market and highlights the continued growth of digital infrastructure as an institutional asset class. The financing reflects continued confidence in the long-term demand for European digital infrastructure and demonstrates the increasing use of capital markets solutions to finance mission-critical digital assets.
The transaction is expected to pave the way for further data centre CMBS issuances in Europe as the market continues to mature and attract broader investor participation.
The Kirkland team included debt finance lawyers Kazik Michalski, Suril Patel, Peter Chandler, Mai Huynh, Sara Topa, Francesco Albanese, Rachel Naylor, Nigel Chiang, Lucy Williams and Oliver Clayson; real estate lawyer Samuel Zaretsky; corporate lawyers Celyn Evans, Shaun Chung, Euan Alston and Michael Dunton; and tax lawyers Mavnick Nerwal, James Morgan, Caroline Inker, Serene Ho and Guntash Gill.
