Turnaround Awards 2018

Kirkland & Ellis received seven awards as part of The M&A Advisor’s 12th Annual Turnaround Awards. The Firm won:

  • “Chapter 11 reorganization of the year (Over $250MM to $500MM)” for the restructuring of rue21, Inc.
  • “Chapter 11 reorganization of the year (Over $500MM to $1B)” for the restructuring of Payless Holdings LLC
  • “Chapter 11 reorganization of the year (Over $1B to $5B)” for the restructuring of Samson Resources
  • “Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year (Over $5B)” for the reorganization of Caesars Entertainment Operating Company, Inc., et. al.
  • “Consumer Discretionary Deal of the Year (Over $100MM)” for the reorganization of Caesars Entertainment Operating Company, Inc., et. al.
  • “Materials Deal of the Year (Under $250MM)” for the carveout of NeoGraf
  • “Out-of-court Restructuring of the Year (Over $100MM)” for the restructuring of Sequa Corporation by PJT Partners.

Award recipients were selected by an independent jury of industry experts and represent the best of the distressed investing and reorganization industry in 2017.

The M&A Advisor also honored Kirkland restructuring partner James H.M. Sprayregen with a 2018 M&A Advisor Lifetime Achievement Award. Selected by a committee of industry experts, Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are judged on their individual accomplishments, the contributions they have made to their firm and its employees, and the lasting benefits that they have brought to their profession at large.
