Public Company Governance: ESG and Climate-Related Financial Risk

Public companies face increasing pressure from institutional investors, most recently articulated in BlackRock’s annual letter, to elevate environment, social, and governance (ESG) considerations in how they manage their businesses. In particular, investors are calling for climate-related financial disclosure, requiring public companies to assess and disclose their physical and transition risks to climate change.
