Theodore (“Ted”) Brown is an investment funds associate in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP whose practice is primarily focused on issues related to Title I of ERISA, including fiduciary responsibility and prohibited transaction rules. Ted advises private equity, real estate, hedge funds and other private funds and investment vehicles on regulatory considerations in connection with fund formation, investment structuring and other investment management activities. He routinely counsels clients on matters relating to satisfying an exception to holding “plan assets”(including qualification as a VCOC or REOC). Ted also advises pension plan investors and investment managers on general ERISA compliance matters.
