Jacob Cogdill is a litigation associate in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation and jury trials, with an emphasis on product liability, mass torts and False Claims Act actions. Jacob was an integral member of the trial team that secured a complete defense verdict in Carter v. Kenvue, a three-week jury trial in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
Jacob also maintains an active pro bono practice. As appointed counsel, he favorably settled a Fourteenth Amendment claim against Cook County, Illinois, arising from inadequate medical care for a pretrial detainee. Prior to joining Kirkland, Jacob secured a reversal and remand of summary judgment of an excessive force claim on behalf of a pretrial detainee.
