Overview

Elizabeth (Libby) Marden is a litigation partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Clients describe Libby as a proven litigator with strong advocacy skills, strategic and analytical abilities, and business acumen. She is dedicated to developing outcome-driven litigation strategies that are aligned with clients’ business goals. She has successfully represented clients in major complex commercial litigation involving breaches of contract, business torts and class actions.

Libby’s experience includes serving as trial counsel in the successful defense of multiple high-stakes business litigations with hundreds of millions of dollars in potential exposure. She has also developed, implemented and managed programs for the successful and cost-efficient defense of high-volume litigation and arbitrations for consumer-facing clients. She has successfully defended companies charged with data privacy, TCPA, RICO and other class actions. She has also obtained numerous complete victories for both local and national companies in contract and licensing disputes.

A recent recipient of the American Bar Association’s “On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers Award,” Libby earned her J.D. from Columbia University, where she was named a James Kent Scholar and Tony Patiño Fellow.
