Jordan Murray, a partner in Kirkland’s Investment Funds Practice Group, is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading investment funds lawyers and is co-head of Kirkland’s industry-leading Strategic GP Solutions practice. His multi-dimensional and mature practice focuses on advising sponsors in every aspect of the private equity and asset management fund space.
Jordan is well known as a leader in advising premier private investment firms on complex strategic minority and preferred equity investments. In the past 18 months alone, he has led the representations of firms selling interests to each of the prominent buyers in this rapidly evolving market, including Francisco Partners, GI Partners and Marlin Equity (Blackstone); AE Industrial Partners and MSouth (Bonaccord); Carnelian Energy Capital, Golub Capital and I Squared (Dyal); Francisco Partners (Goldman); Siris Capital (Landmark); and AEI and Siris (Wafra); as well as a number of other clients on closed (unannounced) and active transactions.
In his fund formation practice, Jordan has led the representations of sponsors offering open- and closed-ended private securities covering a wide spectrum of sectors, geographies and strategies, such as buyout, credit, real estate, growth equity and hedge, raising more than $100 billion for funds and separate accounts. He also regularly counsels leading private equity sponsors in connection with establishing, documenting and implementing internal firm restructurings and succession planning arrangements.
Jordan is recognized annually as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA, Chambers Global, The Legal 500 U.S., IFLR 1000 and Who’s Who Legal. He was a member of the 2018 class of the David Rockefeller Fellows Program, a highly selective New York City leadership program established by the Partnership for New York City as a tribute to the civic contributions and leadership of the Partnership’s founding chairman, David Rockefeller.
