Jordan Murray, a partner in Kirkland’s Investment Funds Practice Group, is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading investment funds lawyers and is the co-founder and co-head of Kirkland’s industry-leading Strategic GP Solutions practice. His multi-dimensional and mature practice focuses on advising sponsors in every aspect of the private equity and asset management fund space.
Jordan is a well-known leader in advising premier private investment firms on complex strategic minority and preferred equity investments. He has led the representations of firms selling interests to each of the prominent buyers in this rapidly evolving market, including AE Industrial Partners, Arlington, Carnelian Energy, Centre Lane, Coller Capital, Cortec Group, Francisco Partners, GI Partners, Golub, I Squared, Iron Park, Kayne Anderson Real Estate, Martis, MSouth, Marlin, Oak Street, Peppertree, Siris, Spear Street, Synova and Veritas as well as a number of other clients on closed (unannounced) and active transactions.
In his fund formation practice, Jordan has led the representations of sponsors offering open- and closed-ended private securities covering a wide spectrum of sectors, geographies and strategies, such as buyout, credit, real estate, growth equity and hedge, raising more than $100 billion for funds and separate accounts. He also regularly counsels leading private equity sponsors in connection with establishing, documenting and implementing internal firm restructurings and succession planning arrangements.
Jordan is recognized annually as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA, Chambers Global, The Legal 500 U.S., IFLR 1000 and Who’s Who Legal. He was a member of the 2018 class of the David Rockefeller Fellows Program, a highly selective New York City leadership program established by the Partnership for New York City as a tribute to the civic contributions and leadership of the Partnership’s founding chairman, David Rockefeller.
