Sagun Poudyal
Overview
Sagun Poudyal is a corporate associate in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice is focused on public and private company mergers and acquisitions, minority and joint venture investments, leveraged buyouts, equity financings, carve-outs and divestitures. Sagun also advises clients with respect to general corporate and governance matters.
Prior to joining Kirkland, Sagun worked as an analyst with the distressed trading desk of a global investment bank in Mumbai, India, advising on a range of distressed debt transactions across sectors in Asia-Pacific, including those involving primary and secondary bank debt, insolvency claims, debt restructurings and special situations.

Restructuring
- Harvest-backed Eyecare Service Partners in its $563 million out-of-court restructuring.
- Frontera Generation Holdings LLC and five of its affiliates on their prearranged Chapter 11 cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. Frontera owns and operates the only U.S.-based power plant that sells all of its 526MW/year power production to the Mexican wholesale market. The restructuring, which had nearly-universal lender support, allow Frontera to obtain $70 million of new liquidity, slash more than $850 million of its $944 million debt load, and pay its trade claims in full.
- Honeywell International, as major shareholder and litigation creditor, on the chapter 11 cases of Garrett Motion, Inc., in which Honeywell was a co-sponsor of Garrett Motion’s chapter 11 recapitalization.
