Kirkland Named a 2024 California Powerhouse by Law360
Law360 named Kirkland & Ellis to its 2024 California Powerhouses list, which profiles firms that dominated the local market over the last year. Over the last 12 months, Kirkland attorneys put together high-value deals and achieved substantial litigation wins for California clients, illustrating the scope and depth of the Firm’s offerings on the West Coast and beyond.
On the deal front, Kirkland attorneys advised California-based industry leaders such as Hellman & Friedman in the sale of a minority shareholder of software company Splunk to Cisco for $28 billion; Silver Lake in its $13 billion take-private acquisition of Endeavor Group Holdings; and multiple transactions valued at more than $1 billion for longtime California-based clients Vista Equity Partners, Thoma Bravo and Francisco Partners, among others.
Kirkland litigators also racked up wins for California clients such as Applied Materials in bet-the-company litigation against Demaray, which alleged infringement of semiconductor patents and sought $4 billion in damages; Gilead Sciences in high-stakes antitrust class action litigation claims in which the company faced nearly $20 billion in exposure; and Zendesk in securities litigation arising from a $10.2 billion take-private acquisition.
The Firm has attorneys in three offices across the Golden State who focus on matters involving litigation, corporate M&A, investment funds, capital markets, debt finance, intellectual property, real estate and executive compensation.
