Boys Hope Girls Hope of Chicago honored Mr. and Mrs. Gregg Kirchhoefer with the 2005 Joseph S. Kearney, Sr. Heart of Gold Award at its 25th annual “Evening of HOPE” Dinner Dance on Saturday, Feb. 26.  Boys Hope Girls Hope is a national organization dedicated to improving the lives of academically-capable and motivated children.

More than 500 people attended this black-tie event, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.

Mr. Kirchhoefer -- a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice at Kirkland & Ellis LLP -- has been involved with Boys Hope Girls Hope for many years, serving on the Boards of Directors of both the Chicago affiliate of the organization, as past Chairman, and the National Board, as a member of the executive committee and strategic planning committee.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition from an organization in which my wife, Mary and I, believe so strongly,” Mr. Kirchhoefer said.  “We will continue to commit our energy and resources to Boys Hope Girls Hope to improve the lives of children through education and opportunity.”

“I have known Gregg and Mary for 20 years and their devotion to community service is exemplary,” said William A. Streff, Jr., a member of the Firm Management Committee at Kirkland and a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice.  “Kirkland has a strong commitment to charitable work and pro bono matters.  Gregg and Mary are proven leaders in serving the community.”

At Kirkland, Mr. Kirchhoefer’s practice is built on his work experience in the computer industry.  His practice is focused on transactional and counseling matters primarily involving computer, telecommunications, biotechnology, corporate and commercial issues.

Mr. Kirchhoefer’s distinguished career was profiled in “America's Best Corporate Lawyers,” a feature in the July/August 2004 issue of Corporate Board Member magazine.  Described as a "first port of call" for clients, he was selected as one of America's Leading Business Lawyers in Technology by Chambers USA 2004-2005, and was also selected as one of the global leaders in e-commerce law in The International Who's Who of E-Commerce Lawyers by Law Business Research.   Mr. Kirchhoefer is an author and frequent lecturer.  He also serves on the Board of Directors of Bell Flavors and Fragrances and is a member of the Board of Editors for “E-Commerce Law Report.”
