Ninth Annual Kirkland Real Estate Private Equity Symposium

The Ninth Annual Kirkland Real Estate Private Equity Symposium, hosted in Kirkland's New York office, will take place Wednesday, November 19 at 1:30 pm. Kirkland welcomes Sam Zell, Founder & Chairman of Equity Group Investments, as the keynote speaker.

This year's event includes two panels on various facets of real estate private equity. The first panel, "Capital Deployment," will discuss which markets and what property types present opportunities in an investment environment that some feel is overheated. The panel will also share the challenges they faced finding attractive investment opportunities during the last year and discuss how, if at all, potential market shifts will affect their deal strategy going forward. Guest panelists include Christopher Graham, Senior Managing Director, Head of Real Estate Acquisitions for the Americas at Starwood Capital Group, Ronald Kravit, Senior Managing Director at Cerberus Capital Management, Cia Buckley Marakovits, Chief Investment Officer at Dune Real Estate Partners, Lauren Hochfelder Silverman, Co-Head of U.S. Acquisitions at Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing and K. Jay Weaver, Co-Founder and Managing Principal at Walton Street Capital, L.L.C. Matthew J. Lustig, Managing Partner at Lazard will be moderating the panel.

The second panel, "Capital Sourcing," will focus on successful strategies and structures for capital sourcing from both the buy- and sell-side perspective. Guest panelists include Paul Davey, Senior Portfolio Manager at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Edmund Donaldson, Managing Director, Portfolio Management at USAA Real Estate Company, Steven Hason, Managing Director, Co-Head Americas Real Estate at APG Asset Management US Inc. and C. Allan Swaringen, Chief Executive Officer & President at Jones Lang LaSalle Income Property Trust.  Christopher Keber, Senior Managing Director at Hines Interests LP will be moderating the panel.

After the panel discussions, Roy March, Chief Executive Officer at Eastdil Secured, will moderate a discussion with public real estate industry legend Sam Zell.
