Overview

Michael Reeves is a leader in Kirkland’s GP strategic advisory and asset management M&A practice and has been recognized worldwide for representing leading private equity and other alternative asset management firms in complex “GP stake sale” and other asset management M&A transactions, including (i) mergers and acquisitions of asset management businesses, (ii) purchase and sales of common and preferred equity interests in private equity, private credit and real estate managers, (iii) seed investments by financial sponsors, family offices and strategic investors in emerging investment managers and (iv) related joint venture and partnership arrangements, including succession planning for founders and senior principals of asset management firms.

Michael was featured among the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2024 “Leaders of Influence: Private Equity, Investors, & Advisors” and was named a “Bank and Finance Visionary” by the LA Times Studio in 2025.
