Kirkland Advises Brookfield on Befimmo Refinancing

Kirkland & Ellis advised Brookfield and Befimmo in connection with Befimmo’s offering of €475 million in aggregate principal amount of senior secured notes. The proceeds of the offering of the notes were used to fund the full redemption of Befimmo’s existing senior secured notes, extending Befimmo’s maturity profile and lowering its refinancing costs, and to fund a return to Brookfield.

Befimmo is BeLux’s largest privately held office owner and operator, with a portfolio of 34 high-quality office and mixed-use assets in Brussels and other prime cities in Wallonia, Flanders and Luxembourg.

The Kirkland team included capital markets lawyers Tim Volkheimer, William Taylor and Younes Mahmoudieh; debt finance lawyers Lloyd Robertson-Jones, Jonathan Birks, Ben Burton, Nick Parker and Emma Shi; corporate lawyers Matthew Elliott and Gregory Scott; tax lawyers Rebecca Fine, James Seddon, Cosmos Fung, Abigail Curry and Dan Fishbein; and investment funds lawyer Josh Westerholm.
