Kirkland Advises ORIX-Backed Specialty Welding and Turnaround on Sale to Brown & Root Industrial Services
Kirkland & Ellis advised leading middle-market private equity sponsor ORIX Capital Partners and its portfolio company Specialty Welding and Turnaround (SWAT) on the sale of SWAT to Brown & Root Industrial Services (Brown & Root), owned by One Equity Partners and KBR. SWAT is a leading turnaround, cooling tower and industrial catalyst services provider to blue-chip customers in the refinery, petrochemical and renewables end-markets, with operations across 22 states and a network of approximately 32,000 highly skilled professionals. The combination of SWAT with Brown & Root creates one of the largest specialty welding and turnaround service providers in North America. Kirkland advised ORIX Capital Partners on the acquisition of SWAT in 2020 and thereafter advised ORIX Capital Partners and SWAT on multiple add-on acquisitions including Midwest Cooling Tower Services, Hydroprocessing Associates and Breathing Systems Inc.
