Kirkland Represents CATL on Hong Kong IPO
Kirkland & Ellis advised Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL, HKEx: 3750) on its global offering and listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The joint sponsors of the IPO included Bank of America Securities, China International Capital Corporation, China Securities International, and J.P. Morgan. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and UBS are overall coordinators.
The IPO raised approximately HK$35.7 billion (US$4.6 billion) prior to the exercise of the over-allotment option, HK$41 billion (US$5.3 billion) after the exercise of the over-allotment option, making it as Hong Kong’s largest IPO in the last four years and the largest IPO globally in 2025 to date. CATL is also listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, stock code: 300750.
CATL is a global leader of new energy innovative technologies, primarily engaged in the research, development, production and sales of EV batteries and ESS batteries. Headquartered in Ningde, Fujian, CATL’s business spans the globe. By the end of 2024, nine out of the top ten global automotive OEMs by EV sales volume are the customers.
The offering has garnered significant interest from leading investors including sovereign wealth funds, major corporations and high-profile investors.
