Kirkland Advises Cursor on $60 Billion Acquisition by SpaceX

Kirkland & Ellis advised artificial intelligence and coding platform Cursor on its acquisition by SpaceX (Nasdaq: SPCX) for $60 billion in an all-stock deal. In April, Kirkland represented Cursor’s option agreement for SpaceX to purchase Cursor outright and a partnership with SpaceX to accelerate model training efforts. SpaceX announced its exercise of the call option to acquire Cursor on June 16, 2026, and the transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to certain closing conditions.
